COD Black ops: All RC clan members... Will you accept the call?

Greetings to all Kentucky gamers and especially all those who recognize that the RC clan has risen yet again to dominate the new world of Call of Duty: Black Ops. I posted this website as the official website of our clan on gamebattles.com.

If you are interested in joining the RC clan there are a few things that you need to do. First you must update or create a login for gamebattles. This has not always went smoothly so if it doesn't work the first time wait a couple hours or the next day. It wouldn't work for me last night and then it did this morning so I think they are working on some bugs within their updated system.

Next make sure you have an xbox live gamertag uploaded on your gamebattles profile. This is important because I can't accept you into the team until you have a gamertag posted.

Finally make sure that you keep looking at your inbox for possible team recruitments. I already have put out requests for several RC clan members who have played with us before. Just keep looking and if you don't see anything just comment me back with your gamerbattles username and I'll make sure that I send it to you quickly.

It's that time again guys and I think we can really have lots of fun with this. I'm hoping to get this working within the week and we can discuss how many times we wanna look for matches. We can pick our specific days that would work and we could have a couple different teams for those who can play on different days. Just want to do my best to accommodate as many people as possible because I remember playing together on COD 4 and I'm sure you all remember how much fun that was for everyone who played together. It's just not as good without guys to play with. So drop me a line on gamerbattles or on here. PEACE!

Got your attention didn't I. If you don't know the lingo then you're either not from the country or you haven't been playing Rockstar's newest game Red Dead Redemption. Let me tell you all that this game is a good contender for game of the year 2010 already. I will say at first I wasn't impressed with the graphics for each person, but when you think about how this game actually plays from a 3rd person perspective, the characters look very real.

The landscapes for this game are breathtaking. You can ride on a stagecoach to other areas of the map and sometimes I feel compelled to actually just watch the landscape as I travel. Very few games make me do that.

The dialogue is pretty spot on, sometimes dialogue is pretty corny, but nothing can be perfect and there are some pretty corny people out in the world as well.

The side-missions and challenges that you can do are actually fun and worth putting your time into. I spent over an hour trying to catch wild game and skinning their pelts for cash. My wife really liked to see that over and over again! (sarcasm)

The only thing I haven't delved into deeply is the multiplayer, which means I need your help. Any Kentucky gamers who wish to get a possee together and save or destroy the old west should comment me either on here or on facebook so we can really enjoy the multiplayer at its finest. I'll give a multiplayer only review soon enough, but until then I'll see y'all later. Yeee Haa!

Hey folks this is Rollianos back to bring you more of the same videogaming news that many Kentucky gamers need to hear about. I've always been a videogamer and so I will use my talents for the good of all Kentucky. I continue to bring rock solid reviews that will make you say man that guy is good, but I also want to work on bringing gamers from all over Kentucky together to share in several different gaming genres so that we all can live in harmony...well maybe chaos depending on the type of game to play.

So first things first, I need to inform you all about the Halo: Reach beta multiplayer. I haven't had this much fun playing Halo since the very first one on Xbox. The gameplay is exactly what Halo has always been like before so I won't get into much detail there. I prefer being able to aim down the sight of my gun, but I guess if you're a Spartan you don't need to aim and still shoot well enough.

The graphics are pretty solid, but maps seem to lack visual detail like we have come to expect from Call of Duty and other such games. Seems that Bungie decided to go with more character detail and weapon detail this time around and I guess if you have to pick one over the other it makes sense. Character customization is a big thing for this new game. There are several different helmet, shoulder plate, and chest plate styles of armor that players may buy through credits gained by playing through the different games. I don't know how this works specifically because get the same range of credit points usually no matter if I win, lose, or are on top.

The scenarios of gameplay is also unique and thrilling. Instead of veto power, players vote on the map and type of game they want to play. Slayer is always a favorite, but new types of games like stockpile are quite thrilling as well. I must say I don't like SWAT too much, but I don't play Halo as often as other games so I guess I'm just not as good with the aiming styles for this game.

I really think this will be a buy guys and gals. I look forward to learning more as I continue playing. Since this is still a BETA you must have Halo 3: ODST to play. If you don't have it you may want to wait, I actually just borrowed the game from a friend so I don't think I'll buy ODST just for the BETA. However, if you have this game for the next few weeks look me up Kentucky gamers and we'll pwn some noobs!

I was just recently talking with some friends about how I love to play sports. I know many of you are just like me and love to play as well. It seems that every now and then you will run into a tournament or league that is starting up but it is only by chance that you even hear about it.

How great would it be to have a central place you could come to, for all of this information. Such as "oh there is a 3 on 3 basketball tournament in Russell County", "oh a big relay for life event in Adair County", "a volleyball league is trying to get started" so on and so forth. Well my hope is that http://www.kentuckygamers.com/ and/or the kentuckygamers group I create on facebook will be that place.

I'm always coming up with crazy ideas I just hope this is a good one! I will need help and may not be the best for the job, but if something is going on in Kentucky and you want to let people know about it or your just looking for something to do maybe this will become "the spot" Please be patient as I give this a shot!

A New Year brings so much excitement, possibilities are all around us. It is now our choice to either seize the chance or let it glide on by. I hope we all embrace our new chance as we embark on a whole new decade, 2010. I've made a few resolutions some of which I will list in hope that making them public will make them more real and you guys can help me to stay on track.

One of those goals is to read through the bible in the upcoming year and to help with that task I'm using this website maybe it can help you as well. Just click the link below.

(People wouldn't have to list their weight just the pounds they lost or gained and strategies for doing it, just a thought.)

Oh my gosh that is so true. Just hearing that noise from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre made me change the channel. Yeah I know, I'm a guy and I'm a wimp but I'm just not that much into scary movies anyway. But that's not what this blog is about. An equally horrible encounter is from this years new installment of Resident Evil.

Resident Evil 5 takes place not long after the events of Resident Evil 4. I being the Resident Evil nerd that I am read all of the history bits during the game as well as the timeline in the extras menu I believe. To me this story really ties all of the previous games together. Umbrella may be gone, but it really wasn't the big picture to begin with. I don't want to spoil it too much for ya so you'll just have to explore the details on your own.

Things I can reveal however are the overall ratings of the game. Now I'm not a top notch reviewer, but I do try to look at things objectively so I'll give it my best try. Before I get into the details I give this game a NINE out of ten. I have several reasons to back my opinion. First of all the gameplay is quite amazing. At first I thought the aiming was sluggish and cumbersome, but after playing through the game once you really do get good at it. This was a similar adaptations I built up during RE4. The story line was excellent, with many twists in the story that makes you feel like you need to get to the bottom of it. The enemies move a little faster than RE4 and this builds on the intensity of the game. I will admit, although I wasn't sure exactly what to do at first; the beginning level has a hordes of majini coming at you for seven minutes and I died at least 10 times. I had to bump it down to the easy level before figuring out how to make it through this level. The variety of weapons were amazing and you have to play smart to conserve ammo, especially for some of the more powerful weapons. The only thing to me that keeps this game from a perfect score is the lack of replay value to me. Sure you can get infinite ammo for all the weapons and this means you MUST replay the game, but come on, once you get infinite rockets or infinte magnum bullets, the game loses the edge it once held. It really is just too easy to beat. Now granted I have not played professional level yet, but this single player game will lose its savor after two or three playthroughs. Maybe with the versus mode it will get a lot better. Too bad I have not bought this game or it would be an option for me.

Well there you have it. Not the very best or indepth review, but c'mon this is my first one in close to six months. I need to get back into the swing of things and provide important details without rambling too much like I am now. So I'll be off. Cheers!

Wow, I've taken a really long sebatical and everyone will be proud to know that this first year teacher has almost made it through his intern year. That being said, I noticed Bennett has been posting more on the site and while chillin' at the in-laws I thought I could write a little bit about a few of the games I've been plaing recently. Since I've got Gamefly, things have been really heating up. I even crossed the 20,000 gamerscore threshold. But I'll talk about some of the various games I've played in the next week.

First up, let's take a look at my most recent title Civilization: Revolution. This has actually been a very fun game and quite mind washing as well. I've been playing this game for only a day or so, so I'm not through everything that needs to be done, but I did play through as the romans on easy. It was awesome! I loved building up my empire and then when I was so huge I could just do whatever I wanted. It was kind of annoying that other civs would ask for my newest and best technology, when they are at least 3 tiers behind me. Then they would get mad and declare war. I almost got all of the wonders on this one play through as well. It's not a very difficult game, but it would be really fun if you have a friend that you knew to get together and really dominate, or perhaps betray, mwahaha. Anyway, I may provide a more in-depth review later, but for now it's getting a lil late for our time and I'm gonna head on out. Later y'all BANG BANG!

Well it was a short run for the Michael Scott Paper Company but man was I proud of that guy. He showed Dunder Mifflin why he is the man and performed well in the best show this year besides maybe the superbowl episode.

Although the world will be sad that the end has come for MSPC just remember to never mess with Michael Scott, you hear that Dwight? Also a good night for our man Jim who had struggled with the new boss over the past couple of weeks. Things look to be back on track now as the greatest Sitcom on T.V. is back in all its glory.

UFC 92 Weekend Warriors Edition

As many of you may or may not know, a group of Weekend Warriors assemble at least once a month for various games/activities etc. You may find us playing paintball, wiffleball, watching a movie or one of our personal favorites getting together for a UFC pay per view. This was the case December 27th at the Hart Household. We always like to pick the winners of each fight and see who does the best, well last night we put it on paper and I hope to keep a running tally of how we stand up for the year and then our overall career record.

Let's jump right into the results, I will welcome profiles on each of the weekend warriors specifically aimed at UFC for this instance I may do one as an example later.

Well it has been awhile since I last posted a blog, but believe me I've been through a lot since my last post. So I won't dilly dally and just get to it...

Up first......FABLE II
Rating: 8 out of 10
This is an excellent roleplaying/hack/slash game. The graphics were very well presented and the humor within the game really had me laughing to the point I had to pause the game on a few occasions. I always love the chance to let out my frustrations and actually be a BAD guy. Gameplay was like it has always been. You carry out quests to build up experience and make your character stronger. Controls were simple and easy to master. And the story was not based on the story from the first fable so it would be easy for everyone to get into it. Now why don't I give this game a 9 or a 10 since I'm talking so well about it. Well I won't spoil the ending for you guys, but I will say that it left me more than dissapointed. That and some of the quests and activities seemed mundane. So all in all, I recommend that this game is a buy game. Great for the gaming library and if nothing else good to play through a time or two and take back to Gamestop or something.

Gears of War 2
Rating: 9 out of 10
This will most definitely be one of the greatest games to come out this year. I had a chance to play through the main campaign and I had a lot of good things to mention. The controls seemed to work well and in good placement, much like the last game. The story was put together nicely and it really kept you going throughout the entire campaign. The only downside to this is that I have been left with so many more questions than answers at the end of this game. All the brutality is back and it makes you feel good to cause 5 grubs heads' to explode from your sniper rifle. The weapons were the big thing for me in this game. The heavy mortor and machine gun was awesome to get a hold of. The only reason this game doesn't get a perfect ten is the fact that to me the original Delta team doesn't seem to have a big part in the game. You and Dom work with various other people and Baird and ColeTrain are left out. Other than that an excellent buy and the multiplayer is probably quite awesome as well, but I didn't get to do that.

Call of Duty: World at War has just came out and I already have it in my game mastering hands. I'll be sure to provide you guys with a decent review soon enough. Till next time, take care.

Flag Football Report

The Fall 08 Flag Football League in Casey County has begun and is in full force. The first week saw a plethora of good games, this websites slant will be focused primarily on the WildCards Football Team. Week 1 saw the Wildcards go 1-1 with a hard fought 26-13 win over the Falcons in a game they trailed with a little over 3 minutes remaining in the game. In their second game the WildCards matched up against the Gators after jumping out to a 2-0 lead the WildCard offense sputtered and watched the Gators take the win by a count of 22-10

Week 1 also saw the WildCards take another hard loss as Shaina Crews broke her finger on a tackle attempt, she is questionable for Week 3

Week 2 saw the WildCards hit their stride as they controlled most of the game against a very solid Charger Team, I'm unsure of the score but will update when possible. In their second game they finally seen their offense and defense click in a 40 something to nothing victory against a Buc team that can compete with anyone but had a tough time breaking through against a stout Defense

While the team took 2 big victories they also had two huge losses in speedster and pass rush specialist Derek Grider to a Hamstring pull and all around athlete and team head coach Daniel Eubank who will undergo testing this week. MORE: SEC notes: Western Division wants to close the gap

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — There is something undeniably old school about Kentucky sophomore big man Patrick Patterson.

Of all the players who attended SEC Media Days, he was the least flashy. Many wore suits and ties with colors Crayola hasn't even considered yet. Patterson wore a sweater and dark slacks. He wasn't sporting any bling, either.

Patrick Patterson feels healthy again and is ready to play a big role for the Wildcats.
He doesn't have a problem with being old school. It fits him.

"For me, I feel that basketball is basketball, two points is two points," Patterson said. "You don't need to be flashy all the time. It's how you carry yourself on the court. I don't need to do that. A lot of players do the flashy stuff. But I never have growing up. I just played the game, not showboating, not throwing up any signs or any stuff like that. I never did that in my life.

"I always had respect for the game. Put the basketball in the rim and just play the old-school style. Back in the day, they never did anything like that. They just played the game."

Patterson played it quite well as a freshman for the Wildcats last season. He averaged 16.4 points and 7.4 rebounds and posted six double-doubles. He also averaged nearly 36 minutes per game as the Wildcats were especially thin in the frontcourt.

The numbers are impressive. They're numbers his old idols, players such as Moses Malone and Hakeem Olajuwon, can admire.

His season was cut short, though, when a stress fracture was discovered in his left ankle as the calendar turned to March. Patterson had helped carry the Wildcats into college basketball's most meaningful month, then had to go to the sideline. It was a cruel twist. Without him, UK went quietly in the first round of the NCAA tournament, losing 74-66 to Marquette.

"The rehab was tough," Patterson said. "From my surgery all the way up till now, day in day out with trainers. They sent me a program back home in West Virginia when we got out of school to do with trainers at a local facility – ankle movements, Therabands, water treadmill to keep me moving. From running in the water, to running on the treadmill to running on the court, it has been a long and tough process."

From what coach Billy Gillispie has seen and what Patterson has said, Big Blue Nation can breathe easy. Patterson, who was the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year last season, is back to his old-school self.

"He wasn't 100 percent to go until recently," Gillispie said. "But now he's used to running and shooting, and his timing is back. He's very close to being 100 percent back. Physically, he has been. Now it's just getting used to playing again.

"I don't care how good you are, it takes a little while to get back. Michael Jordan was gone for a couple of years and it took him a little time, not much time, and it won't take Patrick much time, either. He's progressing on a daily basis."

Patterson plays every possession as though it could be his last. He works tirelessly on the boards, and he establishes offensive position on the low block as well as anyone in the SEC.

Gillispie said Patterson was forced to play out of position at center last season. Gillispie hopes to keep Patterson strictly at power forward this season.

"I don't think we saw Patrick exhibit all the skills he had last year because he was relegated to … center," Gillispie said. "I think he's a power forward. He's a really outstanding shooter from 15-18 feet, and he'll be able to show that this year because we'll have a little bit more in the post. We'll have more options and some guys who can be a low-post presence, which will allow him to play his most advantageous position."

SEC coaches should shudder at the thought of Patterson in a more advantageous position.

"There was nothing that I could see that didn't impress me about that kid," Vanderbilt coach Kevin Stallings said. "He was, in addition to a great player, a great competitor. He carried himself the way I appreciate players carrying themselves. He's not overly demonstrative or talking or running his mouth. He did everything in a professional way. Throw on top of that how good he is and I liked him a lot.

"These days, that's a very rare combination. He's a special player, I don't know what it's like to coach him, but he looks like he'd be a great guy to coach as well."

Gillispie has no complaints.

"He's a great listener, as good a listener as I've ever been around," Gillispie said. "He listens with his eyes 100 percent of the time. You don't have to tell Patrick too many things over and over. Usually you tell him once and it sticks with him forever.

"Patrick totally immerses himself on the basketball court to listening to instruction. He's able to listen and watch people demonstrate and pick things up right away. He gets better because he works hard and does listen and because he's very hungry. He's committed and as good a teammate as you could ever have. I would say if you ask him a question about what's most important to him, he'd say that his team does well because that's what he exhibits every day, no matter whether it's on the court or off."

Patterson doesn't seem as if the admiration of his own coach or other coaches in the SEC affects him. He appreciates it, certainly, but he's not letting anything go to his head.

"We all know he's the main guy on and off the court," guard Jodie Meeks said. "We feed him in the post and it's our role to hit open shots.

Patrick Patterson missed the end of last season after suffering a stress fracture.
"He's a humble guy and I like that about him. He was on the cover of Athlon and I didn't even know. I saw it and asked him about it, and he was like, 'Yeah, it's me.' "

The humility was instilled in him by his father growing up in Huntington, W.Va. Buster Patterson, retired from the Navy, was the law to Patrick. The son did his chores and did them on time, or there were consequences.

"My dad was strict," Patterson said. "He tells it how it is. He's not the nice dad. He's the nice dad every now and then, but mostly he's a dad who looks out for you and pushes you to do the right thing. He's not afraid to say what he wants you to do and give you punishments when you don't do it."

So Patrick kept his room neat, did the dishes, took out the trash, vacuumed. If he didn't, he found himself confined to his room, no TV, no electronics and no cell phone.

"Patrick has been very closely guarded by his mom and dad," said Lloyd McGuffin, Patterson's high school coach. "Buster is a no-nonsense guy but easy to get along with and down to earth. But Buster is not going to put up with him going out and acting silly."

Patterson said there wasn't much going out, anyway.

"I'm probably only person in my class who had a curfew," Patterson said. "My friends were going out late at night to parties, and my father assigned a curfew every night – 10 p.m. It really hurt my senior year.

"I was mad. I was frustrated. My friends would be calling and texting, saying, 'We're going out, you want to come?' I'd say, 'No, I can't. If I sneak out, I'll get caught because he's always up late at night.' But looking back on it, it shaped me to the man I am today."

That is to say the kind of kid his parents and the city of Huntington can be proud of.

"As far as I'm concerned he's just the kind of kid that wants to please everybody, do anything that's asked of him," McGuffin said. "He's a throwback. There's no other way to describe him. He likes to be in the gym. Whether in practice or a game he doesn't play around

Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, a classic movie in which the previews contain at least half of the good laughs for the movie. The best part of this was watching it with most all of the Weekend Warriors and some classic Matney lines during the movie!

Bennett Rating: 6.75 out of 10, you can rent it but don't waste the time to head out to the cinema unless you've got great company with you.

Welcome Back to Bennett Movies, I had a bit of a hiatus but want to hit you with my three most recent movies, all of which are definitely watchable.

Let me start with LakeView Terrace, an intense movie that takes a pretty common story line and turns it into a fun thrill ride. This is thanks almost solely to Samuel L. who plays a guy that you just can't stand in this movie.

I seen it on a guys night out with Thorpe, Roy, Brian, and Rollin, it followed some fun Air Hockey and Shooting Hoops in the Arcade, good stuff wish H, Loy and Matney could have been in on that and then led to a Fable II release, in which I'm expecting a full review from Rollin in the next week or so.

Guys as promised I'm still trying to bring my view on all the movies I watch whether it be on dvd or at the theater. So far over the past week I've seen these two totally different movies.

Nights in Rodanthe from the acclaimed author Nicholas Sparks (also Heather's favorite author) brings another book brought to the big screen. Have you seen Walk to Remember, The Notebook, or Message in a Bottle? All written by Mr. Sparks.

This movie delivered what it was suppossed to but wasn't his strongest book and even with great acting wasn't his greatest movie either. I would give it............

Bennett Rating: 7 out of 10

Forgetting Sarah Marshall, your classic crude but hilarious comedy. It does its job much better than the average comedy and was one of those movies you can watch again and again and still crack up. I saw it the first time at the Theater with some buddies and last night on Blu-Ray with my buddies Brock and Hart. Hilarity then ensued!

Bennett Rating 8.5 out of 10 of course I grade comedies on its on level.

BIG BLUE MADNESS

Every year since the early 90’s I have made a tradition out of standing in line and attending “Midnight” or “Big Blue Madness”. It is an event that marks the start of the College Hoops season and more importantly gives the fans a chance to see their beloved Wildcats for the first time. This year we arrived around 5:30 p.m. and set up camp directly across the road from Wildcat Lodge, where the players live. We hadn’t been there an hour before the players started bringing fresh pizza from Papa John’s out to the fans standing in line. Josh Harrelson came over and handed our group a pizza which was nice because I hadn’t had anything for supper and was starting to get a little hungry. Shortly after that we got to meet and take a couple pictures with the superstars of this year’s team, Patrick Patterson and Jodie Meeks, two sure-fire NBA prospects.

Below from Left to Right: Deandre Liggins, Matney, Josh Harrelson, Kevin Galloway, Some guy that is related to Antoine Walker that may be walking on, and myself.So I brought my Cornhole boards that I built and painted with the idea that I would get some of the players to sign one of them and I was lucky enough to get almost all of their signatures except for Meeks, Harris, and Porter. As you can see in the picture below I got Patterson’s picture signing my board. Pretty cool.

Below you can see Me standing beside a towering Matt Pilgrim. He is a beast and every bit as big as Patterson. On the other side was my partner Kevin Galloway and Pilgrim's partner was Jason Stevens from our group.

It was neat that so many of the players came out to hang out with us. Galloway and Pilgrim probably played Corn hole with us for an hour or so. It was pretty cool. Below is a picture of Me with KG after we beat Jason and Pilgrim in a game.

We all had a great time. I had never seen the players out in full force like they were this year. All, or most of the players were very approachable and out-going. They all seemed fired up about the season, as are we to watch them! GO CATS!!

I have continued to stay dedicated over the past few weeks to bring a short thought and ranking for each movie I've watched here lately and today you get hit with a double dose!

88 Minutes a great Al Pacino movie in my opinion, the critics didn't like it but who listens to them. A great edge of your seat action flick, classic Pacino

Now on to Pineapple Express, what do you get when you mix a Seth Rogan movie with 12 of your best friends at the Key Twin Cinema? A hilarious and awesome time along with a funny flick that had me getting punched by Heather at times to quiet down :)

Bennett Rating 8.0 out of 10 is it an award winning movie? No but for what it is suppossed to be a very funny flick then it does it's job.

Dicky Lyons summed it up saying this is the "New" Kentucky, while in the past...ahem (LSU 6 years ago) Kentucky would have and did lose on a play like this, the present day Kentucky makes the play, sorry MTSU Cheerleaders :)

Baby Mama

Wow an unexpected surprise. I went into blockbuster on Tuesday to check out the new releases, and was disappointed by the selection of new movies, Baby Mama being one of those choices. I figured it would be a chick flick and Heather would like it, which she did. What I didn't expect was how much I would end up liking the movie, which had me laughing out loud at numerous times during the movie.

It is a definite rental worthy movie.

Never Back Down

What can I say about this movie, other than it was fun to watch. The back of the box touted it as 1 part Fight Club, 1 part Karate Kid and 1 part The O.C. I knew I liked the first two so I hoped it lived up to what it said and it did indeed. It was a high intensity/feel good movie and has the guy from Gladiator and Blood Diamond as a mentor which was a great choice.

Overall of course it wasn't a blockbuster type movie but it is definitely a must watch.

Paintballin RC Style

About a week ago a huge amount of Paintballers descended upon Lake Cumberland Paintball, 19 players in total. Here are just a few pics before the paint started flying. I must give props to the women who had a great day out there. Stay tuned because another huge outing with more pics, stats and possible video is on the way!

Movie Review #2

Step Up 2

What can I say it was a fun movie. Was it groundbreaking, award winning of course not, but it was pretty much what one would expect. It was a up beat feel good movie that leaves you wanting to dance. I would say that it wasn't quite as good as the first Step Up just like almost all sequels aren't as good as the original.

Welcome to Bennett Movies

Every year I tell myself, I'm going to list all the movies I watch, I do it for about 10 movies and then boom, something happens and I don't get it done. That is what brought me to do Bennett Movies on my blog. It serves two purposes it gets me to blogging more often which I love to do but fail to do near as much as I would like and it has me do my Movie reviews I've always tried to do.

Let me start with What Happens in Vegas it stars Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz :) I had high hopes for a light hearted, funny comedy and it only partially delivered. The plot was pretty non existent which I figured on but the jokes and chemistry wasn't as good as I had expected, it wasn't either Actors best comedy by a longshot. I loved Kutcher in Just Married and Diaz in Something about Mary their best comedies in my opinion.

Last Night in Meadow Brooke :(

As many of you may know, Heather, Noah and I have sold our house at Meadow Brooke Subdivision. We have lived in the house around 5 years and as happy as we are to be building a new house, we have so many great memories we are leaving behind. Most of all this is the first house we brought our baby Noah home to. It has truly been a warm and loving place to have a great family at. As the time winds down, I will truly miss Meadow Brooke, our awesome neighbors, walks around the loop, wiffle ball in the back yard, cornhole in the frontyard and all kinds of get togethers with the best friends in the world!

It is just another page in the history of the Bennett Family, what will the next chapter hold? Who knows but with my wonderful family and friends I know it will be great. So goodbye to Meadow Brooke and Hello to Remington Subdivision, thanks for all the memories.

Final UFC Fight at Bennett's/WiffleBall

I hope to comment more on this later, let me just tell you that the wiffle ball was intense. Rollin continued his homerun dominance in the last performance at Bennett Field. The UFC fights were really good even though people were leaving, sleeping and dropping like flies during the fights that lasted until 12, later than usual :) It is rough getting old but it looks like we are all in this together so I guess we can empathize with one another.

Sunday Also was our second installment of paintball, we need to get some stat keeping going on but as of yet that is a no go very fun times however and we are looking to establish some regular times for paintballing so stay tuned.

PAINTBALL WARS are HERE!!!

Just to follow up on the posts of my fellow paintballers, I have played 4 times already in the last 2 or 3 weeks. I'm hooked. It's something I've wanted to do since I heard about it many years ago, and it's even more fun than I expected it to be. What I'd like to do is get a list of guys and their phone #'s together so we can get a more regular thing going. Everyone that plays seems to absolutely love it and always ask to be called whenever we play again.

I'd love to get at least one evening during the week to play until dark while we still have some daylight. I was thinking Tuesday would probably be the best night would probably be the most common night for everyone. There just isn't alot going on this night of the week.

We've been playing alot in Tim Wade's parents' woods. He has 3 nice sets of woods that we've used and each presents its own set of challenges. I'm sure everyone thats played would agree with me in saying thank you to Tim and his parents for allowing us to play there. They are very cool about letting us come play whenever.

If any locals read this and are interested in playing, leave your name and number on the comments section and I will add you to the list of paintballers. It would be sweet to get some clans together in real life ala COD4. We could then have real life "Team Deathmatch".

I will try to start bringing a camera along to the paintball wars so we can start making player profiles.....how sweet is that, coupled with Rollin's idea of stat keeping? Are you kidding me?!!

One last thing to remember, it's not cool when your gun is shooting above 300 ft./second. You can seriously hurt someone or even break their goggles. So make sure those guns are turned down. I had the skin break last time in about three different places last time we played because I won't mention any names uhem BRIAN AND JASPER, had their guns cranked up to around 400. OUCH!! Sams poor arm looked awful. 300 and below only leaves a nice colorful bruise which is fine.

Paintball "The Beginning"

A couple of weeks ago a few of us began playing paintball for the first time ever! We truly had a blast, trying to kill one another. (Actual just shoot each other with a paintball) We had some fierce competition on both the speedball and woodsball venues. Kentucky Gamer Contributor Rollin already blogged about the action, a great read.

The hope is to start playing on a regular basis, keep records and kills etc. It is truly going to be fun, stay tuned to Kentucky Gamers for all the news.

RC Clan - The New Revolution

Okay fellas we all know that RC clan from COD4 is absolutely hot. However, several of the original members from Russell Co. have recently decided to take the clan and bring it to life. Last Sunday RC clan began running drills to become an actual paintball team. I remember paintball from my Middle School days and sadly I didn't have enough money to get into the game. Luckily, most of the RC boys are still kids at heart even in their twenties, AND thirties (snickers). Drills were performed on McGaha field and consisted of two speedball games and a set of hide and seek in the woods.

The two teams were divided up as such:

Several of the players were new to the game, but I feel confident that the RC clan will be a successful group in the months to come. Team 1 won a speedball match and a match as the hiders. Team 2 won a speedball match and a match as the hiders as well. It was a fun day an quite evenly matched as can be seen.

The only main statistics I'm hoping to keep up with is the headshot count (or kill count). However, I need comments for you to make this decision. These first matches will not count, but as soon as a have a consensus on what stats to keep I promise that we will have them monitored on KentuckyGamers.

Bluegrass State Games Basketball Recap

As promised Kentucky Gamers is providing you with all the info going on in and around Kentucky, with a big focus on sports in Russell County. The WildCards pictured above entered the Open Division of the Bluegrass State Games, which contained 6 teams, consisting of players from Georgetown and Centre College and Former Southern Illinois Basketball Players. The WildCards were undersized but made up for that with sheer heart and determination. After losing two close games in Pool Play and entering the Single Elimination Tournament as the 5 seed the WildCards would play some tough basketball.

They first dispatched of the number 6 team a solid group of ballers from Eastern Kentucky. They then faced the Pistols the number 1 seed in the tourney who they had lost to previously by one point. They made quick work of the Pistols beating them 16-10 to send them to the Championship Game. The WildCards would fall short 10-16 after taking an early 6-3 lead. (Scoring was by one's and two's) The WildCards could leave with their heads held high coming in 2nd and earning silver medals. Lookout for them next year! Also thanks to all the WildCard Fans those in attendance were: Heather and Noah Bennett, Kermit and Wanda Burton, Scott Eubank, Thorpe's brother and Father, Victoria, Rachel, Shaina and the one and only Eric Minton.

In other exciting news Brian Grippe and Brently Taylor two Russell County Ballers lead their team to a dominating performance of the combined 30 and over league with the 6 foot and under division, going undefeated in pool play and cruising past the competition in the tournament to bring home Gold Medals in their first place finish.

The rapper says in a federal lawsuit filed Wednesday that the Mexican-themed chain features him in a print ad asking him to change his name to 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent. His real name is Curtis Jackson.

The rapper's court papers say the ad is part of Taco Bell's "Why Pay More?" campaign, which promotes items for under a dollar, including Cinnamon Twists for 79 cents, Crunchy Tacos for 89 cents and Bean Burritos for 99 cents. The papers say the Irvine, Calif.-based company sent a bogus letter requesting the name change to the news media but not to the rapper.

The rapper's lawyer, Peter D. Raymond, said his client didn't learn about the letter or that he was featured in the ad campaign until he saw a news report about it. Raymond said his client is seeking $4 million in damages.

It's the stuff nightmares and horror movies are made of.A holidaymaker got a nasty shock when he learned that the strange bleeding bumps on his head were not bites or shingles, but live maggots.Aaron Dallas, from Colorado, looked for medical help when the unusual lumps appeared on his scalp after a holiday to Belize during the summer.One doctor thought they might have been caused by a gnat bite. Another believed his problem was shingles.But then the bumps took on a life of their own and began to move.A doctor discovered five bot fly larvae living inside Aaron Dallas's head, near the top of his skull. This was a few weeks after a mosquito had apparently placed them there."I'd put my hand back there and feel them moving. I thought it was blood coursing through my head. I could hear them. I actually thought I was going crazy," said Dallas, of Carbondale.Bot flies rely on mosquitoes, stable flies, and other insects to carry their eggs to a host - and in this case the host was Dallas."It was weird and traumatic," he said. Salem Crew? Middle School Crew 4th addition

The Salem Crew was at it once again after a one week hiatus Monday night........ Or were they? After a great showing of about 20 players at Salem Elementary school, the main man Jason Foley was MIA. Calls to his cell phone remained mostly unanswered, when one baller did get through he talked to Foley's significant other and asked, "Where's Foley?"

girlfriend: "playing ball"

baller: "No he's not."

girlfriend: "I'm watching him play right now."

baller: "Oh we are at Salem."

Kentucky Gamers are under the assumption Foley was practicing his game behind the scenes but more investigation will need to take place. :)

So the Salem Crew loaded there vehicles and set sail for the Russell County Middle School, where there was 4 teams of 5, very competitive games, and it felt like a sauna as well. Kentucky Gamers ballers did match their highest attendance of fans at 3: Shaina, Victoria, Emily matching a previous attendance record set at Salem with fans: Heather, Noah and Emily

Eubank is what some people like to call a super athlete, strong, fast, mobile "thats what she said!" He is a force at anything he does and that holds true on the court as well. He is most comfortable on the move and can drive or shoot the trey whatever the situation dictates. Always a good person to have on your team Eubank will help lead you to victory.

Lofton To Play In Turkey

Former Mason County and Tennessee star Chris Lofton has signed a one-year deal to play professional basketball in Mersin, Turkey.
Lofton's agent told The Tennessean newspaper, but would not disclose financial terms.
After not being selected in the NBA Draft last month, Lofton played for the Denver Nuggets' summer team in Las Vegas but spent most of the time on the bench.
Lofton, a native of Maysville, Ky., holds the Southeastern Conference's career record for 3-point baskets with 431.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Landon Wilburn, 11, has a future as a cop — a traffic cop.
The youngster, who used to shout at speeders to slow down as they drove through the Stone Lakes subdivision in Louisville, now has taken matters into his own hands.
Dressed in a reflective vest, wearing a bicycle helmet and armed with an orange Hot Wheels brand radar gun, he points and records the actual speed of passing traffic.
Landon also carries a flashlight with a built-in siren.
"When I saw it happening, I got the biggest kick out of it," said resident George Ayers, 61. "People were locking up their brakes when they saw him."
Many in the subdivision are frustrated that motorists tear through the neighborhood at 55 mph despite signs posting a 25 mph limit.

SEATTLE (July 17) - Seattle's five problem-plagued public toilets could be yours if you're flush.
City officials decided to pull the plug on the multimillion-dollar self-cleaning toilet stalls and instead put them on the auction site eBay.
Starting bids are $89,000 apiece.

Seattle's self-cleaning public toilets have cost the city over $5 million dollars and are often malfunctioning.
Neighbors and city-commissioned analysts said the unisex facilities attracted drug users and prostitutes, and were less cost-effective than regular public restrooms.
On May 19, the City Council voted to remove the problem toilets. Council President Richard Conlin said although people were using the high-tech, self-cleaning silver stalls, they also fostered illegal behavior, such as prostitution and drug use.
The German-made automatic, high-tech toilets were installed in 2004 and have cost the city about $5 million. Each has handsfree washing and drying ability and an emergency button that automatically dials 911.
The automated doors on the impact- and graffiti-resistant toilets will close Aug. 1, said Andy Ryan, a spokesman for Seattle Public Utilities. The auction will last for 10 days.

Back in Action

After a few days hiatus Kentucky Gamers is back, but can you blame me NCAA Football 09 has just released and I've been spending most of my free time with it and "The League". If you don't have this game yet you should, it and the new Call of Duty coming out this fall are two must haves for the season.

In movie news I actually got to catch a couple of flicks and wow!

The Dark Night did not disappoint in the least, I believe it to be a disservice to try and talk about it at any length other than to tell you to go see it! Now! 9.5 out of 10 and it was nearing 10 of 10 status which I don't even know that I've ever given except maybe my favorite movie Sixth Sense.

Speaking of the Sixth Sense, one of my favorite directors M. Night came out with a new movie this summer The Happening as badly as I tried to like it and Lady In the Water they just couldn't match his other greats: Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable and The Village. This movie had plenty of potential was definitely intense and dark at moments and Walhberg has emerged as a truly great actor, Shooter being one of my favorites over the last couple of years but even he couldn't save this movie. Brock you were right it just wasn't good I would have to give it a 5 out of 10, which saddens me greatly!

In wiffle ball news Eubank and I had a homerun derby in which I hit 5 in a row and ended up with a new record 9 homers in a 9-3 victory. We then followed that up with some makeshift games of throwing the ball on the roof and catching it with our backs turned truly a fun game we split 3 games a piece at that game.

I'm sure you've heard that Josh Hamilton hit a record 28 homeruns in one round even though he lost in the finals of the homerun derby. You may have saw the extra inning, historic longest all star game in history come down to a one out sacrifice play at the plate. Granted that is pretty good stuff, but did you know late Wednesday at dusk the three homerun leaders of the young wiffle ball season faced off. Rollin, Hart and Bennett dueled it out and Eric Hart came away with the first homerun derby championship with 7 homers, Rollin and Bennett tied with 3 each.

In other news...... All three of us have some sweet Tippmann paintball guns! Lookout!

Wiffle Ball: Norton Field 1st Official Games

Wow what a great season opener at Norton Field as the day seen two great wiffle ball games here are some pics from the day.

In the first official games of the season, there was two competitve 4 inning games with the first one being decided in the bottom half of the 4th with the Wiffle Warriors (Heather, Lindsay, Zach, Kermit, Rollin, Hart and Bennett) pulling it out 10-9, the second game was a little more lopsided with a 23-9 win for the Warriors. The only team was not for sure on a team name but player Brandon Norton came up with the Strikeout Kings.

The days action saw a variety of homeruns. Rollin left the games with the season lead in homeruns with 5, while Kermit had the shot of the day hitting a monster that hit The Norton House in the air. I was lucky enough to have the bases juiced and had two grandslams

Guys reading a fellow bloggers page and his great insight on sports figures and taking my little guy Noah through the toy aisles at Wal-Mart today got me to reminiscing on my awesome childhood. Those of you my age *cough* *cough* 30 or near that can surely remember He-man and his trusty sidekick Battle Cat both pictured above. These were the first two figures you probably got when you were a kid collecting Action Figures and man how awesome they were.

I hope to take you back in time with me through this blog as we look at some other classic figures from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe and other great childhood toys.

It is so exciting for me as a parent, to think about all the fun Noah has in store for him. Also being a big kid myself will make it even that much more interesting, it should be a great ride and I hope you can enjoy a small portion of it with us!

He has one of the most laid back attitudes on the court but don't for a second think he will take it easy on you because if you do you will be left holding your jock strap as he scores on you all night.

Yes Ladies and Gentleman you are reading correctly Wiffle Ball is Alive and well here in Russell County and you can rely on Kentucky Gamers to keep you updated on what is going on.

There have been two wiffle ball outings already at Bennett Yard, unfortunately we don't have any pictures from those preseason games but players included: Adam Matney, Daniel Eubank, Shaina Crews, Matt Thorpe, Victoria Baker, Rollin McFarland, Lindsay Bennett, Brian Norton, Alison Norton, Alex Norton, Ashley Hart, Emily Hart, Heather Bennett, Noah Bennett and Russell County Wiffle Ball Hall of Famers Eric Bennett and Eric Hart.

This Group of gamers will begin the official season on the Road, at Norton Field this weekend hopefully we will be able to provide pictures and stats from the game, and even an outside chance at some video. The intensity will be high in preseason games we have already experienced people being ran over on various occasions, a few people have taken shots to the face and yes there has already been blood.

It is good to join FORCE members Loy, Bennett and Hart with some expert commentating. Here are some movies as Matino sees them:

Incredible Hulk: Definitely better than the first because it had more of a story plot. It did not seem as "cartoony" to me, so I would say it is a renter.

Ranking: 1/2 of a thumb up

Wall E: Great movie. Had good humor and was well done. I did not have any expectations, so it even made it better.

Ranking: 3/4 of a thumb up

Wanting: Other than Angelina Jolie, this movie would be on the crap list. It had some cool special effects, but I would not waste your money on this one. The language and sex brought it down for me as well.

Ranking: 1/2 thumbs down

The Chronicles of Narnia, Caspian Prince: Overall good movie. Not as good as the first one. They could have made it about 4o minutes shorter and got the same point across.

Ranking: 1/2 thumb up

Hancock: Horrible movie. It was the worst movie Will Smith has done to date. First of all, he is known for being clean, not in this movie. Also, the movie is not consistent. You will see when you watch it. I was really disappointed with this one because the hype made it to be decent. I would not even recommend renting this one.

Guys welcome back to the Salem Crew Section. As you know this is the place for all the pickup basketball info that is going on in and around Russell County, later I will recap today's game, but first.....

Name: Blake Aaron

Nicknames: None provided, But since he is the youngest of the Aaron brothers, I have come up with a few, Little A, The Sniper, The Chosen One, and one I used today Randy Travis! (I don't know why)

Age: 13/14?

School/Occupation: Russell County Middle School (I think he's an 8th grader)

Favorite Shows: None were provided so we are going with Sesame Street, The Cosby Show, and the History Channel (Again I don't know why I guess because he is the youngest.)

Blake is the youngest of the bunch, but he isn't the young guy that everyone has to be nice to and let them get some shots up, he is a true baller. Against the older guys his specialty is the long range 3 of which he is among the top of the Salem Crew Shooters. This guy truly has a great future ahead of him as he is a terrific athlete and also has a great attitude.

He did make me feel old today not knowing who Jay-Z was I don't know why I cared because I never like Jay-Z but still :) Also you learn something everyday. I knew Brett and Blake were Brothers but had thought Derek was a cousin, wrong he is a brother as well, just not with a first name that starts with B. Great Family there.

Alright guys, I feel so glad to be contributing to Kentucky Gamers and I hope to contribute to the team with some information on what I enjoy best. Therefore, I'll be giving compelling game reviews and I'll try to keep in touch with people on some of the upcoming and highly anticipated games of this year.

To begin I'll start by saying that this week has left me with a little more time on my hands to play videogames so I went to my friendly neighborhood Blockbuster and was browsing the shelves when I felt nostalgic all of a sudden. As a younger lad I enjoyed the hit anime Dragon Ball Z. Now this is wildly popular anime that has different characters of different races, mostly not human, and these extraordinary fighters must protect the Earth from any and all threats. I am not ashamed to say I've watched every episode and I still enjoy it today. Well the newest videogame is called DBZ: Burst Limit. I took it home with me and set of to complete the sagas of the anime I loved. The one thing that I noticed is that you should always play the tutorial first. I did just to get a couple achievements before I got into the game, but there was no tutorial for the main campaign and so I would have been totally lost without going through training first. However, when I got into playing the game I noticed some very interesting elements. The controls went along together very smoothly and unlike other fighting games, there wasn't this massive number of buttons to mash to perform a special attack. It was very straightforward which was appreciated. I also noticed that the style of graphics really helped fit to what the anime was like, but with a more 3-D element. However, the game was rather short and I was disappointed to see the large buu saga missing from the game. I know not everyone will understand what I just said, but if you ever wanna know you can just ask or look it up on wikipedia. Overall, I think it's a good game to rent and play with other friends who loved DBZ as well. If you're not into that then I think you'll still enjoy the fighting elements involved, but it won't be a rich experience.

Now like I said I had extra time on my hands so I took back DBZ the next day (I did say it was short). And I got the Bourne Conspiracy. This was actually rather close to the movie plot of the Bourne Identity. Out of everything in the game I believe I loved the hand-to-hand mechanics the best. You had certain combos you could perform, but the most amazing element was the introduction of take-down maneuvers. You could do uber moves on the other victim just like Bourne could always do in the movies and you could even use the environment into the game. I loved it when I was able to pick up a screwdriver and stab a guys arm multiple times before he could break free. The shooting controls were rather sluggish, but as the game progresses you get the hang of it and I was able to rack up all the achievements for headshots in that one sitting. However, like DBZ this game was just too short. It was fun and action-packed, but it didn't last longer than a day. So again I see an excellent rental, but unless you are obsessed with Bourne, don't waste your time buying it.

If you know me at all you realize that I love playing video games and that it is one of my top hobbies. I also love music, so imagine my amazement when I stumbled upon The Xbox Boys a pretty good band that sings about Xbox games, they have songs entitled Cortana, Master Chief, Call of Duty, Xbox Live, RockBand, and Gears of War and they are pretty good songs. Holy Golf Shot!!

This is Eric Hart, better known as H or just my last name, Hart. Bennett and I just got back from Gulf Shores, AL with the Wives and kiddies and it was a blast! The only thing that could have possibly made it better would have been to have had room to take my babies along and played a few more golf courses. As it were we played one time, at Perdido Bay Golf Club in Perdido, Florida thats located right in or by Pensacola. When we got there we were told that there was water on every hole and the potential for some good size Gators everywhere there was water. Bennett got a little scare one time as he was searching for one of his 11 lost balls :) He said he heard something splash that was way too big to be a fish. We never did see any Gators however. I was a bit disappointed with that. I had to play with Rental clubs and the didn't fit me very well as all the woods had regular flexed shafts and the irons were a little long but I actually hit the ball pretty well and kept it in the fairway for the most part. Even still, I fired an 86 on the par 72 course and putted the ball 31 times which isn't bad at all. I had one water ball and one lost ball. Anyway, I would rate the course about a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Don't play it if you have to rent clubs, it cost $30 just to rent the clubs and they only had 12 clubs in the bag, 2 less than the standard 14. Only one wedge in the whole bag as well. I believe if I'd had my own clubs I could have easily shaved 6 or 7 strokes but what are you gonna do.

Bennett shot like a 125, (in his defense he only plays about once a year or every blue moon whichever comes first) but he did have a great shot on a par 3. It was hole 17, and it played from the Blue tees 172 yards, Bennett came up short of the green by about 25 yards, and I was like, man just use your putter and see what happens. Well he did, and I was standing by the pin and he gave it a big whack and it popped up on the green and rolled right toward the hole and I thought it had a chance to go in but it stopped about a foot and a half away from the hole. I think that was his only par of the day but what a par it was!

Places to eat in Gulf Shores:

Don't leave without eating at DeSoto's. The bread they bring out is phenomenal. I had the blackened catfish and it was outstanding.

Moe's BBQ. Hands down the best ribs I've ever put in my mouth! Looks like a dump from the outside, but don't let that fool you. It's located in or almost in Orange beach which is very close to gulf shores, maybe 5-10 minutes away.

Tin Top Resteraunt and Oyster Bar. Crab legs were delicious as were their broiled shrimp. Ashley got the Grouper which was very good. High priced but it was pretty good.

There was a good pizza place right by DeSotos, I can't remember the name but it was very good.

Places not to eat:

LuLu's. I don't care what people tell you, don't eat there if you're looking for a good meal. 2 or 3 different people recommended LuLu's to Ashley so we went there. The atmosphere was pretty cool, very kid friendly, they had a big sand box like deal were kids can play and they had beach volleyball and cornhole as well as other games. They play Jimmy Buffett type music which was nice but when I go out to eat, people who know me know I want to eat good. We all four ordered the cheeseburger and it was not even close to a Matney frozen patty burger. I choked most of it down but it was not good. The fries were okay. Later in the week someone told us on the elevator at our condo that the burgers were the best thing at LuLus, at that point I knew that wasn't a place to eat if you're hungry.

We stayed at "The Lighthouse Condominiums", very nice complex right on the beach. It looked to be about the nicest one in the area, or one of the nicest. The balcony's ROCK!! They are very spacious and shaded well and offer very nice views of the beach and the pool below :)

The only negative of the trip was that we drove all night on a friday night and when we got there at 3:30 in the a.m. we couldn't get into the key box so I had to call the owner and he said the reason I couldn't get in was because the previous renter hadn't vacated the condo. The jackass double booked us so we had to go down the street and rent a room at the Best Western Roach hotel for a few hours to wait for the previous renter to leave. Then we had to wait for the cleaning lady until 3:00 that afternoon she finally showed. It was a rough first 12-14 hours but the rest of the trip went great. I didn't get sun-burned so that was a big positive. When I'm shirtless I look like I'm wearing a white t-shirt because my torso is so white from hardly ever seeing the sun, and my arms and head are brown from my golfer tan.

I would guestimate that I gained a good 5-6 solid pounds from the trip.

Didn't play to well Saturday or Sunday with a total of 7 penalty shots between the two days, with a score of 92 and an 89. The only good thing that came of it is my poor performance put me into a lower flight where i some how managed to take 6th place and won a box of ProV1's.

If you have checked out Kentucky Gamers in the past I'm sure you know that you could gain information that is indeed earth shattering! I could in no way argue with you, but it is my hope to include even more information and to keep the site much more updated, with new information. To do this I'm opening up the blog to some of my good friends:

Hart: who will undoubtedly give you some pearls of wisdom as it relates to golf and anything Kentucky especially Kentucky Basketball. Here is a sample review of a course we played at Gulf Shores, I'm sure he will expound about it in depth on this page. Perdido Bay

Matney: The information that he will post will be some of the most if not the most original stuff on the Internet today and could range from Hoops to JTM Burgers

NCAA Football 09

Is July 15th a Holiday? If it isn't in this decade, maybe all us NCAA fans can make a push, with our next president to make it one before its next release.

It is now less than 2 months before the newest version known as NCAA 09, and we are getting all kinds of looks at what is in store. Here is a video showing just a few of the differences in last year and this years version. Comparison Video.

Other interesting notes are that there will be a 12 person online dynasty, which adds what I feel is the greatest addition to the game since it has hit the next gen systems. A select few people have been selected to participate in the aforementioned online dynasty and will be reporting what they find in the very near future. Just when you thought the fight between 2Ksports and EAsports was over, 2K along with Don King presents PrizeFighter. Not to be outdone by the wild haired one EA reports Fight Night Round 4 will be released and will feature Iron Mike Tyson. Tyson was also in the news this week due to a rumored fight with MMA Star Kimbo.

Cross League Challenge

As many of you may or may not know, I'm the commisioner of one of the best online football leagues going. Of course I'm bias but anyone that has been part of "The League" and has had any experience in other leagues I would hope think the same way as I do.

That being said we are nearing the end of yet another season, Season III since we have went by the name of "The League" we were formerly a smaller league of many of the same guys called the COFX, of which we had a number of seasons together.

Always trying to keep things fresh, I heard about another very solid player out there Hoser11, who meet up with our one and only CoachBrozz. They had a great matchup and Hoser11 let Brozz know he runs a league as well, which looks very nice and is well organized. The idea hit me that we should combine forces and have a super league something like "The League" presents NCAA Finest or other possible variations, leading in to NCAA 09. I immediately emailed Hoser11 and we have been in the works on some interesting things.

-One thing is a Cross League Challenge of which you will see a banner of at the bottom of this blog, a 20 team tournament taking the 10 best from each league and pitting them together in a tourney.

-Another idea in the works is a SEC vs Big 12 challenge where one league gets the SEC the other the Big 12 and play one game each against each other, also if that went well a Pac 10 vs Big 10, so on and so forth.

As you all know I have been busy coaching tennis but as the season winds to a close this weekend, look for a lot more blogging and effort being pumped into "The League" and of course the "RC" Clan on COD4

The Best Time to be a Gamer???

As I was sitting at my computer looking at the next version of the NCAA Football franchise, I got to thinking to myself is this the best time to be a gamer?

Sure as a 4 year old I was playing the Atari 2600 and loving Asteroids and Pong. I then graduated to the Holy Grail known as the Nintendo, we thought then can it possibly get better than Mario bouncing his head against a block and bouncing on shells to gain almost unlimited lives. The codes for Contra and the password to fight Mike Tyson 007 373 5963.

Next came the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis, the Dreamcast, PS2 and other systems not as widely known. We were introduced to Solid Snake, the fear elicited from Resident Evil and much much more.

Now look at today we have the XBOX 360 and the PS3, we have BioShock, Call of Duty 4, The NCAA Football Franchise, GTA IV and so much more, with even more to come. We have the best Multiplayer ever with COD 4 along with various online sports leagues and now an online dynasty. I'm just can't imagine a better time for gamers, at the same time I truly look forward to the future.

National Championship 2008

Tonight the 2008 NCAA championship will be decided. The combatants are the Kansas Jayhawks and the Memphis Tigers. This is the first year that all number 1 seeds made it to the final 4 but it is still an upset of sorts to have these two meeting up. North Carolina had been everyone's clear favorite to win it all this year..............Someone forgot to tell Kansas who stomped the Tar Heels by 18 points in their Final Four matchup.

History will be made tonight by Memphis winning their first national title or Kansas winning their first championship since 1988. Who does Bennett have picked to win it all? They always say pictures are worth a thousand words well lets test that theory.

Livin The High Life!

Just sitting here in Lexington, KY at Buffalo Wild Wings and realized I'm living it up. I'm up here with friends Richardson and McFall, for the High School State Tournament. We watched some great games last night with Paintsville and Covington Holmes coming out on top.

We are now sitting and eating unlimited Wings and Wedges and awaiting Kentucky vs. Marquette in the first round of the NCAA tournament. All the while I'm blogging on my laptop here while watching 3 different tournament games.

Tonight we will be watching Darius Miller and Mason County! Stay tuned!

"The League" Owners,

Guys were are in week 3 of Season 3 and things are running as smooth as can be, thank you all for doing a great job, lets keep up the good work. As you know we try to keep things fresh here at "The League" we are always looking at ideas and ways to keep it fun and exciting with that being said I have two big announcements!

1) We will be having a Mid Major Tournament, I realize there are other mid major teams out there but you will be required to pick a team from, C-USA, WAC, MAC, Sun-Belt, or Mountain West. If this goes over well we may do similar tournaments either this season or next.

(Sign-ups/Team Selections Must be made in a comment here on this blog, first come first serve, The tournament will start on Tue. with 1st round matchups posted here. Sign-ups must be made by Monday night at 10 p.m. cst, waiting list players are eligible. The only stats required are final score, all "The League" rules apply)

2) About "The League" all teams that finish all regular season games will be eligible for the playoffs they will be seeded along with division winners/runners up by league commisioners taking into account record/Strength of Schedule and Coaches Poll ranking, more than likely if you are ranked #1 your will be seeded number 1. (We feel like letting everyone in will give them something to play for all season, top ranked opponents may receive a first round bye depending on playoff bracket)

Squad Battles Part Duex!

The dust had barely settled from the first recorded battles in RC Clan history, stats were recorded and gamer ratings were handed down. Sure there had been other battles but these were the first ones recorded at http://www.kentuckygamers.com/ for everyone to see. Those intense battles lead way for another great night of fighting amongst brothers, North vs. South style.

Many of you have sent me your stats and I appreciate that greatly, what we really need is an efficient system to keep our stats. I have looked around but not found the best way to do that yet, but I will keep looking.

Okay on to the reviews.

Royboy This guy is definitely a step ahead of his fellow clan members with Rollianos and Faden nearing his level. He goes about buisness each and everytime out and without a lot of trash talk. Roy is currently without a stat sheet, he did report the scores as follows:

Rollianos What a solid gamer this guy has become, you can count on him to be among the tops in kills what is amazing is the fact that he always still maintains a strong kill to death ratio. He had another solid outing against what seemed like very tough odds for the night. His team was a little outmanned and this resulted in losses despite a strong performance Stats for the night:
64 Kills 54 Deaths 0 Wins and 3 Losses in Team play and a very strong 2nd place showing in a Free For all match behind only Royboy. Kentucky Gamer Rating: 7.5 Due to Losses

BennettForce It may be luck of the draw, being or good teammate or pure coincedence but up to this point Bennett Force has been blessed with a pretty good Win/Loss record and held his own in Kills to Deaths. Stats for the night 38 Kills 38 Deaths 2 Wins and 1 Loss, a weak 5th place showing in Free for all results in Kentucky Gamer Rating 7.5 due to weak Free for all.

TarHeelKyle This kid continues to impress here at Kentucky Gamers, give him a grenade and then look out! He has become a little more active in terms of sticking his nose right in the action. Truly a guy you want fighting on the frontlines with you. He had another strong outing but not as strong as his first night. Stats for the night: 42 Kills 52 Deaths 1 Win and 2 Losses in team play and a strong 3rd place showing in the Free for all matchup. Kentucky Gamer Rating: 6.5

Hartattack98 Hart has started to find some weapons he feels comfortable with and with that an improvement of kill to death ratio was evident for the night. He competed in two seperate intrasquad battles with and then without Faden Stats for the night in games with Faden 37 Kills 62 Deaths, without faden 36 Kills 71 Deaths 1 Win 2 Losses in team play and a 6th place finish in Team Deathmatch. Although ratio improved team performance will result in a repeat of his first Kentucky Gamer Rating: 4.5

Squad Battle Stats/Reviews

Rollianos showed that he is a force to be reckoned with and had a great night in the battles. He is definitely in the running for General of one of the two squads. He had a great kill total and a very respectable kill/death ratio his totals for the night: 118 Kills 99 Kills 2 Wins 3 Losses in Team battles. Kentucky Gamers Rating: 8

TarHeelKyle the grenade master also had a very solid night, thanks in large part to a huge showing in Wetwork. Kyle has silently proven he is a key player in these battles and was the second one to report his stats thanks totals for the night: 98 Kills 86 Deaths 3 Wins 2 Losses in Team battles. Kentucky Gamers Rating: 8

BennettForce had a decent night that showed he has skill, to compete at this level, his failure to link together kills in bunches left him a little below the previously mentioned players. He still came away with a very solid outing for the night: 86 Kills 84 Deaths 3 Wins 2 Losses in Team battles. Kentucky Gamers Rating: 7

AlexLaker this young gun has proven he has the skill to compete at this level, he will have games where he is very dominant others when he goes in with reckless abandon and has many more deaths than kills. Watch out for this guy when he gets on a roll with a sniper rifle His stats for the night 73 Kills 94 Deaths 2 Wins 3 Losses in Team battles. Kentucky Gamers Rating: 5

Hartattack98 Hart is a veteran gamer who has just recently entered the FPS and online gaming community. He is continuing to improve his all around game. His strategy is very solid and when his shooting catches up watch out. He has proven himself to be a great team player.

To the Next Level!

Guys many of you know that we have now been playing COD IV for a few weeks, we have developed Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie Squads. The fact is we probably only need two squads right now and would love to merge the squads into two competitive groups. Simply picking the teams is not enough to let us know what the teams need to be.

With that being said, and the great desire for intrasquad battles I've created a stat form that we can keep our stats on for the next week running from Thur.-Thur. Each night we will have some intrasquad battles you do not need to particpate in all of them only a portion but you MUST keep your stats when we have intrasquad battles, this isn't an option.

We will then compile the stats to develop two squads that will battle it out on certain nights for one month, then we will reassess the teams. Also many of you have registered on the gamerbattles website where we are 0-3, we will get better it is only a matter of time. Here is the form print it off and use it for our next match. (It is in Microsoft Word, if you don't have word let me know)

First Skirmishes

The battles have begun and the Alpha squad has already flexed their muscles, beating the Bravo squad in three highly contested battles. It was a hybrid match with two Charlie members fighting for Bravo, and an unofficial, but as of press time official member LordFaden fighting for Bravo.

The matches were semi organized and great fun. Clan founder Eric Bennett stated "I would like to get a little more structure with the members, we didn't have official squads fighting but it was great fun! I've got Hartattack98 looking at some spreadsheets he is a master with stats. Also Rollianos is a math man and I want to have an ultimate stat system." Here is a make shift version of a workup I did.

Battle Time!

(Intrasquad Wars Tonight)

Feb 23rd 2008 Russell Springs, KY

Today is a day that will go down in the history books. Squads have been assembled, positions have been assigned and now it is time to let the guns do the talking. Many of you may know about a week ago, the Russell County Clan was developed. The large numbers of the Clan lead to divisions into 3 seperate squads: Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie squads. While these squads will be one when facing other clans, just like all brothers there will be skirmishes. Which is what will be happening tonight at 10 cst time. It is yet to be determined if the battles will be 3 v 3, 4 v 4, 5 v5, or some variation of those. If for some reason a general of a squad can not make it, they will have to have given permission to their Colonel to continue with the skirmish.

Tentative Schedule: (All matches tonight will be Team Deathmatch to 750, 10 minute limit and best 2 of 3)

Alpha vs Bravo (Crash, Shipment, Pipeline)

Charlie vs Alpha (Backlot, Countdown, District)

Bravo vs Charlie (Vacant, Ambush, Showdown)

Guys our squads are forming nicely, I could see us having some intrasquad battles starting as soon as Monday. Here are how the squads look as of right now.

All intrasquad matches will be best of 3 unless specified otherwise, stats kept will be simply win/loss and individual score, kill, and deaths. If someone knows a good program to keep stats on please let me know

Guys we have just hit the big time! I know we have Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie Squads, but we are still one army. I have taken us to the next level and signed us up at Major League Gamers and here is our team profile.

Here we can meet up and play other squads, they have been doing this for awhile and will be doing it until March 31st, then I think everything will reset. This will give us time to get our feet wet.

You will need to create a profile on the website and then I can recruit you to the RC squad, let me know when you have signed up and I'll send you the invite to the Clan. Like I said we will still keep our squads for fun here and work off that. But we will be one united army at this website, unless later we decide to branch out.
